Summary: This engaging retelling brings the terrifying world of monsters and heroes to life for younger readers. When the bloodthirsty Grendel begins attacking the great hall of Hrothgar, King of the Danes, only one man is brave enough to face him: the Swedish warrior, Beowulf. Through a series of thrilling battles against Grendel, a vengeful mother, and a hoard-guarding dragon, this edition uses accessible language and vivid illustrations to introduce children to the oldest story in English literature. Part of the popular Usborne Young Reading series, it is designed to build reading confidence while maintaining all the drama of the original epic.
