This is an incredibly touching story showing how the loss and grief caused by war is felt by a normal family. Daisy Robinson, her brothers and her Mum are mourning the loss of their Dad who did not return home after the end of World War 1. Daisy has to help her Mum look after her brothers in their small one-bedroomed flat whilst her Mum goes to work at the laundry. One day, Daisy learns from her teacher that the unknown warrior is being brought back to be laid to rest at Westminster Abbey. Her teacher, Miss Wilkins, is also grieving for the loss of her young man who died and also never returned after the war. Daisy is determined that the unknown warrior is her dad and so she must travel to Westminster Abbey to see him laid to rest at last.
