Born and raised in Edinburgh, Emma has always loved books. Being a bookworm as a child, she used to make up adventure stories to entertain her younger sister whilst they walked the family dog. She eventually began to write these stories down. Many of Emma’s jobs involved writing but she was always writing in her spare time. This led to her first children’s publication, Jessica Haggerthwaite: Witch Dispatcher in 2001. This thoughtful story was very well acclaimed and many more books have since followed. Her heart-warming children’s stories have been translated into many different languages and have won a series of awards including, the Fantastic Book Awards 2014 with Wolfie as well as winning the Rotherham Children’s Book Award with Sam and the Griswalds. She also writes scripts for TV and radio and now lives in Leeds.
