Andy Stanton

Andy Stanton* is an award-winning children’s author, whose hilarious ‘Mr Gum’ books have sold nearly four million copies in the UK alone. They have been translated into more than thirty languages and have won lots of awards, including the Red House Children’s Book Award and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.
In addition, he has written picture books for younger children, including ‘Here Comes The Poo Bus’, ‘Going to the Volcano’ and ‘Danny McGee Drinks The Sea’.

In 2019 Andy published the very silly ‘The Paninis of Pompeii’, as well as writing a musical based on ‘Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear’ for the National Theatre.

Andy lives in North London. He studied English at Oxford but they kicked him out. Before becoming an author, he was a film script reader, an NHS lackey, a tiny potato and lots of other things. He has many interests, but best of all he likes cartoons, books and music (even jazz).
